Andrology Fertility and Sexual Health Concerns in Young Testis Cancer Survivors
Dr. Pramod Krishnappa Addresses Andrology (Fertility and Sexual Health) Concerns in Young Testis Cancer Survivors at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai
Testis cancer is one of the most treatable forms of cancer, particularly when detected early. However, the journey to recovery does not end with successful treatment. Survivorship brings a unique set of challenges, especially for young men grappling with concerns related to fertility and sexual health. Recognizing this, Tata Memorial Centre (TMH), Mumbai, recently hosted a cancer survivorship program for testis cancer patients—a pioneering event in India that brings together survivors and leading medical experts to discuss the road ahead.
Among the notable attendees at this event were 140 testis cancer survivors from TMH, along with a distinguished panel of experts from the fields of andrology, uro-oncology, radiation-oncology, and uro-pathology. This initiative marked a significant step towards addressing the holistic needs of cancer survivors, focusing not just on their physical recovery but also their long-term quality of life.
A key highlight of the event was the interactive lecture delivered by Dr. Pramod Krishnappa, an esteemed andrologist from Orchidz Health, Bangalore. Invited as a faculty member by Tata Memorial Centre, Dr. Pramod Krishnappa shared his expertise on the management of fertility and sexual health issues in testis cancer survivors, providing critical insights during his 60-minute session.
Dr. Pramod Krishnappa’s lecture centered on the andrology concerns faced by young men who have battled testis cancer. He emphasized the importance of early intervention to preserve fertility and maintain sexual health post-treatment. This interactive session allowed survivors to engage in open dialogue, sharing their concerns and receiving practical advice from Dr. Pramod Krishnappa on managing their reproductive health, including options for sperm preservation and strategies to restore sexual function.
The event also saw the participation of Mr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, IPS, known for his association with the movie 12th Fail, who added to the inspirational spirit of the gathering. His presence underscored the importance of resilience, the power of support systems in overcoming life's most challenging moments, and the ability to #restart in life in every aspect.
Dr. Pramod Krishnappa’s session on andrology was a testament to the importance of specialized care in helping survivors reclaim their lives post-cancer.
